Over the past few years, our Key West Council has supported multiple commissionings.  In 2011, we had the honor of supporing the USS Spruance (DDG-111) and in 2017, we Commissioned the USS Billings (LCS-15) on board Naval Air Station Key West, Mole Pier.  The U.S. Coast Guard has commissioned seven new Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutters and six of those are homeported in Key West.  The first of these cutters, the CGC CHARLES DAVID JR, was commissioned at sunset on Saturday, 16 November 2013, the second CGC CHARLES SEXTON on 8 March 2014, the CGC KATHLEEN MOORE on 10 May 2014 the CGC RAYMOND EVANS on 6 September 2014, CGC WILLIAM TRUMP on 24 January 2015 and CGC ISAAC MAYO on 28 March 2015.  We have since commissioned the USCGC Robert Goldman.  All ceremonies took place at US Coast Guard Sector Key West.   The Key West Navy League Commissioning Committee supported the commissionings through funding of activities traditionally associated with a commissioning, separate and apart from the U.S. Coast Guard.

What is it?
